Prohibited and Restricted Items when Sending to Thailand

Although makes it simple to ship your goods to Thailand, you can’t just send whatever you like. There are rules about what you can send with a courier – some goods, such as certain kinds of batteries, are considered hazardous. You can see a full list of restricted items for more information.

Those aren’t the only rules about what you can send either. Thailand has their own list of goods which you are not allowed to import, some of which include:

  • Goods that feature the national flag of Thailand
  • Counterfeit Royal Seals/official seals

There are some goods that are also restricted from import without a permit or licence from the Thai government. So if you would like to import Food, you will need prior permission from the Ministry of Health, and if you would like to import antiques or art, you will require a licence from the Fine Arts Department.

There are also further rules about importing cosmetic that you will need to keep in mind. When you ship cosmetics to Thailand, you must state the following in your documentation:

  • Name and location of the place of manufacture or storage of the cosmetics
  • The category, or kind of cosmetics to be imported
  • The major components of the cosmetics

This is not a full list of goods that are restricted or prohibited. For a full list, see the Thai customs website. Please bear in mind that these are restricted in addition to ’s own restricted goods.
