Packaging your Parcel

It’s a long journey to Jamaica, and it’s not necessarily a gentle one for your parcel. In fact, by the time it arrives in Jamaica it will have been handled multiple times. In order to ensure that your goods arrive in as good a condition as they left in, it’s vital to properly package them.

To make sure that your parcel arrives in one piece, there are three key things that you should keep in mind while packaging it :

1. BEGIN WITH A BOX

A new box offers the best protection for whatever you’re shipping. When considering size, remember that you’re going to need to fit packaging layers in with your goods (see step 2). If the contents weigh more than 10kg we recommend a double-lined box.

Safely packaging a parcel for international shipping

2. FILL IT UP

Every item you put in should be individually wrapped, then surrounded by packaging material to suspend it in your box at least 6cm from the inside edges. Once you’ve filled your box shake it, nothing should move or rattle.

3. FINISH WITH TAPE

Be generous with your parcel tape – wrap your package around three times in each direction to create a Union Jack flag-style pattern. All corners and joins should be covered. Attach your shipping labels carefully and ensure they’re the only labels visible on your package.
