Customs in Taiwan
Everything that you send to Taiwan has to pass through Taiwanese Customs. When you fill in your booking form on Parcelcompare we create the paperwork you need to clear customs, so remember to be as clear and accurate as possible with the information you provide.
Any shipments worth more than 3,000 New Taiwan Dollars (about £80) will have duties and taxes applied by customs in Taiwan. These will have to be paid by the parcel’s recipient before it can be cleared.

We can collect your package on the day you book, from across the UK. If, however, your shipment is heavier than 50kg, or longer than 180cm in length you will need to book a day in advance.
Parcelcompare’s booking system provides all the paperwork you need to get your parcel to its destination, including shipping labels and customs forms. We will give you digital copies, and you must make sure that these are printed out and attached to your shipment before our driver arrives to collect it.

Your parcel will be delivered in Taiwan between 9am and 7pm on working weekdays. Our couriers do not work on public holidays, so if you’re sending someone a gift to celebrate a special occasion, be sure to book your delivery in good time.
If your parcel is bulky or oversized, you will need to ensure someone is on hand to assist our driver. If this means that you require special equipment, such as a pallet truck or vehicle with a tail lift, then contact us to let us know.

Sending gifts to Taiwan
There is no gift exemption when shipping to Taiwan. This means that your present will be treated like any other parcel, and duties and taxes will be applied once its value exceeds 3,000 NTD.
When you send a gift, Taiwanese Customs officials are well within their rights to open it up and inspect the contents. This means that if you’ve carefully wrapped it the paper could end up torn and not properly replaced. If you want your present to look presentable consider using a gift bag instead.
Large parcel and air freight

Packaging your parcel
It’s no short journey from the UK to Taiwan and when your package is travelling with a consignment of other boxes for delivery it’s bound to receive a few bumps and squeezes on the way.
Follow these three simple steps to protect your parcel.
1. Get a new box
The most important part of packaging is the box itself – a good, new box can be the difference between items arriving broken or in one piece. Old boxes may look sturdy, but could be hiding a weakness that leads to a box bursting or being crushed by other boxes in transit. We suggest a new double ply cardboard box for each shipment, as an old box can become weak.
2. Pack your box
Securely wrapping your goods in a wrapping material is very important. You should be very generous in doing so – the more you use, the better your goods are protected. Once you've done this, you should place your goods in the centre of the box and surround it with packaging material. Again, you should be generous – there should be at least a couple of inches of material on all sides, and no part of your goods should be touching the walls of the box.
Seal your box
If you're not using a new box, you should make sure to remove any labels that may already be attached. Any information not relevant to the shipment should be completely removed to ensure there aren't any problems in making delivery. When your goods are safely secured, use strong packaging tape – which helps support the box – and wrap around the box in both directions at least three times. Support the corners with further tape – these are the weakest points on a box.
