Shipments to Uganda will pass through Ugandan customs and have duties and taxes applied, unless they’re worth less than US$50. If your package is worth more than this, you can expect fees to be attached, which will be the responsibility of the recipient to pay before the shipment will be released from customs.
By being descriptive and detailed in your paperwork, you can help ensure that there are no problems in clearing customs. For example, rather than just declaring “Electronics”, it’s better to be more specific - “Electronics, mobile phone”.

Food is one of ’s most popular shipments, but there are a few common problems when people send tasty treats. Avoid them by following a few simple steps below, and you’ll have no problems sending something especially delicious to Uganda.
When you send a package across the world, it gets passed from hand to hand and travels by air and land. To make sure that your goods arrive in the same condition that they left in, you’ll need to properly package them before shipping.
When packing your goods, there are three main points to concentrate on:
Boxes that have been previously used are likely to have weaknesses that could make them burst or collapse in transit, even if they look sturdy. Use a new, double corrugated box, especially for goods heavier than 10kg.
Each individual item should be separately wrapped in packaging material like bubble wrap. Place your goods into the box and surround them with packing material, such as packing peanuts. Make sure that nothing moves when shaking the box.
Proper packing tape can make all the difference when packaging your box. It can add further protection to your box’s weakest points – you should wrap your box three times in a Union Flag pattern, and pay attention to seals and corners.
You’re allowed to send food to Uganda with , as long as you follow a few simple rules. You can’t send perishable goods – all food must be store bought and in original packaging. You can’t send anything homemade.
When you ship to Uganda, duties and taxes are applied to your parcel by the local customs agency. This is a part of the shipping process that has no control to the over.
Yes, there are some items that are not allowed to be shipped to Uganda. Most courier networks are not willing to carry certain goods – like cologne and perfume – which you can see on ’s Prohibited Items list. Uganda has their own list of restricted goods for import, including distilled beverages containing essential oils or chemical products and cosmetic products containing mercury, so be sure to make sure your goods are allowed into the country before shipping.
There are no gift exemptions when shipping to Uganda. That means that every parcel will have duties and taxes applied as normal. Keep in mind that this will add some extra costs to your shipment.
